A Different Kind of Laser Resurfacing
UltraClear is not simply another traditional resurfacing laser.
Many ablative lasers rely on substantial heat to remove damaged skin and stimulate renewal. Although effective, that heat can contribute to discomfort, prolonged redness, extended recovery, and pigment changes in susceptible patients.
UltraClear uses precise 2910 nm cold fiber laser technology to resurface the skin while limiting unnecessary heat exposure to the surrounding tissue.
This combination of precision and control allows us to adjust treatment from a light, low-downtime refresh to more intensive resurfacing for deeper wrinkles, scars, and advanced sun damage.

What Can UltraClear Treat?
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Deeper wrinkles around the eyes and mouth
- Sun damage and age spots
- Uneven pigmentation
- Benign cosmetic keratoses
- Crepey skin
- Overall skin quality and radiance
- Enlarged pores
- Dull or weathered skin
- Acne scars
- Surgical and traumatic scars
- Rough or uneven skin texture
- Mild skin laxity
UltraClear can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, and other appropriate treatment areas.
Why Patients Choose UltraClear
Cold Fiber Laser Technology
UltraClear’s 2910 nm wavelength is highly absorbed by the water within the skin. This allows the device to remove microscopic areas of damaged tissue with exceptional precision and less residual heat than traditional CO2 resurfacing.
Flexible Downtime
UltraClear is not a single, fixed treatment. It can be adjusted from a light resurfacing treatment with minimal downtime to a deeper procedure with more significant correction and recovery.
Personalized Treatment Depth
The percentage of skin treated, depth of treatment, and amount of thermal energy can all be adjusted. Your procedure is designed around your skin rather than a standard setting.
Options for Every Skin Tone
UltraClear can be used across the full range of Fitzpatrick skin types, including darker and melanin-rich skin. Careful evaluation and customized settings remain essential for every patient.
Progressive Collagen Remodeling
UltraClear does more than improve the skin’s surface. Controlled treatment stimulates a natural healing response that can continue improving firmness, texture, and skin quality for several months.
Non-Surgical Rejuvenation
UltraClear requires no incisions or general anesthesia. Treatment is performed in the office, and most sessions take approximately 30 minutes or less.
Three Levels of UltraClear Treatment
LEVEL 01
Refresh
3DMIRACL®
3DMIRACL is UltraClear’s lightest treatment option. Sometimes described as a lunchtime-style peel, it is designed for patients who want smoother, brighter, more refreshed-looking skin without significant social downtime.
Patients may experience temporary redness, mild swelling, sensitivity, or a slightly rough texture. Many patients return to their usual routine the same day or the following day.
Initial improvement may become visible within three to five days. A series of treatments may be recommended for the best result.
- Best for: Luminescent brightness
- Intensity: Light & gentle
- Downtime: Minimal Social Downtime
LEVEL 02 • POPULAR
Resurface
Collagen Remodeling
Customized fractional resurfacing creates precise microscopic treatment channels while leaving surrounding areas of skin available to support healing.
The treatment removes areas of damaged skin and activates the body’s natural repair response. As the skin heals, new collagen formation can gradually improve texture, firmness, wrinkles, pigmentation, and scarring.
Because this treatment is deeper than a 3DMIRACL® refresh, patients should expect more visible redness, swelling, dryness, flaking, or peeling during recovery.
- Best for: Deep wrinkles & scars
- Intensity: Moderate to deep
- Downtime: Several days (3-5 days)
LEVEL 03
Remodel
Laser-Coring™
Laser-Coring is an advanced treatment available within the UltraClear platform. It creates extremely small, precisely controlled channels that remove microscopic cores of skin while supporting resurfacing and collagen remodeling.
Laser-Coring may provide an additional option for deeper concerns that are unlikely to respond sufficiently to lighter resurfacing alone.
Not every patient needs Laser-Coring. Our medical team will determine whether it adds meaningful value to your treatment plan or whether a less intensive UltraClear setting is more appropriate.
- Best for: Severe wrinkles & laxity
- Intensity: Advanced therapeutic
- Downtime: Highly variable

How does ultraclear work?
UltraClear delivers rapid, controlled pulses of laser energy at carefully selected depths.
Depending on the treatment chosen, the laser removes damaged surface tissue, creates microscopic channels within the skin, or removes tiny cores of tissue in targeted areas.
This initiates two complementary processes:
Surface Renewal
Damaged and irregular surface cells are removed, allowing smoother, clearer, more evenly textured skin to emerge.
Collagen Remodeling
The controlled treatment activates the skin’s healing response. New collagen formation can gradually improve firmness, fine lines, scars, and overall skin quality over the following weeks and months.
What to Expect During Treatment
Every UltraClear treatment begins with a medical evaluation. We will examine your skin, review your health history and medications, and discuss the concerns you want to improve.
We will also talk honestly about recovery. A treatment that provides more correction generally requires more healing time. Our goal is to find the right balance between results and downtime for you.
Your Consultation
- In-depth medical evaluation of your skin
- Personalized recovery timeline planning
- Pre-treatment safety assessment
Preparing Your Skin
- Avoiding tanning and prolonged sun exposure
- Using broad-spectrum sunscreen consistently
- Temporarily stopping retinoids, exfoliants, or other active products
- Following a preparatory skincare regimen when recommended
- Informing us about cold sores, skin infections, medications, and healing concerns
- Planning adequate recovery time for a deeper treatment
Do not discontinue a prescription medication unless instructed by the prescribing clinician.
During the Procedure
- Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed. A topical numbing cream or other comfort measures may be used depending on the treatment depth.
- The UltraClear handpiece is passed over the treatment area using settings selected specifically for your skin. Patients may feel warmth, prickling, or a snapping sensation.
- A typical full-face treatment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Your total appointment will be longer when preparation and numbing time are included.
Is UltraClear Painful?
UltraClear was designed to limit the excess thermal energy associated with many traditional ablative lasers. This can make treatment more comfortable than older resurfacing procedures.
A light 3DMIRACL treatment is generally well tolerated. Deeper resurfacing and Laser-Coring feel more intense and may require additional comfort measures.
UltraClear Recovery and Downtime
There is no single recovery timeline for UltraClear because the device can perform treatments at very different depths.
After a Light UltraClear Treatment
- Mild redness
- Slight swelling
- Temporary sensitivity
- A dry or rough texture
Many patients return to their regular activities quickly.
After Deeper UltraClear Resurfacing
- More noticeable redness and swelling
- Dryness or a bronzed appearance
- Flaking or peeling
- Temporary sensitivity
- Several days of visible healing
- Residual pinkness after the skin has healed
Your skin must be treated gently during recovery. Sun protection is essential, and makeup should not be applied until the treated skin has healed sufficiently.
You will receive specific written aftercare instructions based on your procedure.
When Will I See Results?
The result timeline depends on treatment intensity. After a light 3DMIRACL treatment, your skin may begin to appear brighter and smoother within approximately three to five days.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Some patients see meaningful improvement after a single treatment. Others benefit from a planned series.
A series is more likely to be recommended when treating:
- Acne scars
- Significant sun damage
- Uneven pigmentation
- Deeper wrinkles
- Advanced textural changes
- Larger or multiple treatment areas
We will recommend the treatment schedule most likely to produce meaningful improvement without exposing your skin to unnecessary treatment.
UltraClear for Darker Skin Tones
UltraClear’s precise cold fiber technology limits unnecessary heat spread, allowing it to be considered for the full range of skin tones.
This does not mean that every treatment setting is appropriate for every patient. Skin tone, pigmentation history, current sun exposure, medications, and previous reactions must still be evaluated carefully.
At MD Aesthetics and Skin Tightening, your treatment will be customized rather than based on a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
- Want to improve wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation, scars, or texture
- Prefer a non-surgical treatment
- Want treatment intensity matched to your available downtime
- Have realistic expectations
- Are willing to follow preparation and aftercare instructions
- Can avoid sun exposure before and after treatment
- Want gradual, natural-looking improvement in your skin
Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you have an active infection, open wound, certain inflammatory skin conditions, recent tanning, impaired healing, or a medical condition or medication that affects treatment safety.
UltraClear Frequently Asked Questions
Is UltraClear an ablative laser?
Yes. UltraClear is a cold ablative fiber laser. It removes microscopic areas of damaged skin while limiting unnecessary thermal damage to the surrounding tissue.
How is UltraClear different from a CO2 laser?
Traditional CO2 lasers can provide powerful resurfacing but generally transfer more heat into the skin. That thermal effect can contribute to greater discomfort, prolonged redness, and a longer recovery.
UltraClear uses a different wavelength and precise pulse delivery to remove tissue with less residual heat. The appropriate choice depends on the patient, the condition being treated, and the desired result.
Does UltraClear tighten loose skin?
UltraClear may improve mild laxity and crepey skin through resurfacing and collagen remodeling. However, it cannot reproduce the structural lifting achieved with surgery.
For patients whose primary concern is skin laxity rather than surface damage, our team may recommend UltraClear, Sofwave®, or a customized combination plan.
What is the expected recovery and downtime?
What is the difference between UltraClear and Sofwave?
UltraClear is a laser resurfacing treatment. It treats the surface of the skin and can improve pigmentation, scars, wrinkles, pores, and texture while stimulating collagen remodeling.
Sofwave uses ultrasound energy beneath the surface of the skin. It is primarily intended to improve laxity, fine lines, and overall firmness without removing surface tissue.
Some patients need one treatment or the other. Others may benefit from a carefully timed combination because the technologies address different aspects of skin aging.
Can UltraClear treat acne scars?
UltraClear may improve certain acne scars by resurfacing uneven skin and encouraging collagen remodeling. Deeper scars often require a series of treatments or a combination approach.
Laser-Coring may be considered for selected patients with significant acne scarring.
Can UltraClear treat brown spots?
UltraClear may improve sun-related discoloration, age spots, and uneven pigmentation. Not every brown spot should be treated with a cosmetic laser, so the area should be evaluated before treatment.
Can UltraClear be used around eyes and mouth?
Yes. These are common treatment areas because fine lines and wrinkles often become more noticeable around the eyes and lips. Treatment settings must be adjusted carefully for the anatomy and skin thickness of each area.
Can UltraClear replace a facelift?
No. UltraClear improves skin quality, texture, wrinkles, scars, and some degree of laxity. It does not reposition deeper facial tissues or remove substantial excess skin.
Can I wear makeup after treatment?
Makeup should not be applied until the treated skin has healed sufficiently. The timing varies according to treatment depth. We will tell you when it is safe to resume makeup and regular skincare products.
How long do the results last?
Results from lighter treatments may last several months. Improvements from deeper resurfacing may last one to two years or longer in some patients.
The skin will continue to age, and new sun damage can develop. Daily sunscreen, appropriate skincare, and maintenance treatments can help preserve your results.
What are the potential side effects?
Expected short-term effects include redness, swelling, sensitivity, dryness, flaking, peeling, and temporary skin-color changes.
Less common risks include prolonged redness, infection, scarring, cold-sore reactivation, and unwanted pigment changes. Your specific risks will be reviewed during your consultation.
